Book Review of “Your Second Life Begins When You Realize You Only Have One”

This is one of those books you should keep by your side for constant reference.Although it is a novel by Raphaelle Giordano,it is like a life coach that helps you live your best life.In chapter eight the technique of positive anchoring is explained and advises to write a list of your best qualities and successes.Camille the main character is advised to keep a promises notebook to assist her in making changes in her life.Claude her mentor tells her to buy a small address book and to note in alphabetical order triumphs big and small and also the things that make her happy. The idea is soon she would have a collection of positive anchoring which would be good for self esteem and personal satisfaction.Chapter 20 mentions again the virtuous-circle,discussed in more detail in chapter eight,Camille says “I was on the brink of reaching the famous mind/body reconciliation the Asian teachings so insist on” and ” I got up each morning with a “thank you” in my head and went to bed each night with the same thought”.A scientific experiment on Visualisation and two pots of seeds is also narrated in this chapter,showing what we visualise can become fact.Chapter 28 also dicusses the importance of persistance in any endeavour quoting Winston Churchill”Success consists of going from failure to failure without loss of enthusiasm”,Camille’s mentor brought her to the church of Saint -Julien-le- Pauvre when she was lacking belief in her ability to succeed and she began to turn things around.The book also gives a helpful discussion guide at the back to help you get started in making life changes.I would highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to make life changes or to change old patterns of doing things.With the New Year just around the corner this is a must have for anyone who wants to get the New Year off to a good start!
