This is a photo of my dog eared copy of this book by the great Thich Nhat Hanh who died recently at the age of 95 .His book is a timely reminder that we should slow down.In his own words he says ‘this book is offered as a bell of mindfulness,a reminder that happiness is possible only in the present moment’He reminds us of the power of breath. He says ‘sometimes our mind is thinking of one thing and our body is doing another…….by concentrating on our breathing in and out ,we bring body and mind back together’.I wish I had brought out this book yesterday morning when I was having difficulty with some I.T. work!! It would have been more productive to walk away and breathe! The book is full of short pieces such as Walking meditation,Transforming feelings,Mindfulness of anger,Blaming never helps,Nourishing awareness ,Eating Mindfully and the Eucharist. The piece on Eating mindfully is very helpful to anyone interested in weight management. In fact it is a great book to have on your desk before starting any work,as a reminder that nothing is worth getting worked up about!
